“This paper examines the implementation
of African Peer Review Mechanism
(APRM) in Ghana, Kenya and Mauritius.
First to voluntarily submit to review by the
APRM, all three countries have devised
different working models at the national
level in order to facilitate the peer review
process. This paper examines the
background to the emergence of the New
Partnership for Africa’s Development
(NEPAD) and the unique role that the
APRM has played as a vital part of
NEPAD’s delivery system since its
inception in 2002. It goes on to examine
the working models of the selected case
studies, and a comparative analysis of their
various structures and working methods is
discussed. The paper concludes with a
summary of the mechanism’s progress to
date and discusses what lies ahead for the
APRM.”
