“This report discussed and analyzed the 2007 elections in Morocco. The setbacks that was experienced should be understood particularly viewing the consensus around the economy, the relative strength of the monarchy, the trouble within the Islamist movement, the structure of the political system, and the historic record of the rigged elections. The 2007 election was a setback primarily due to the lack of strong political parties and an electoral system that is over-engineered to secure representation at the expense of simplicity.”
