important issue of mineral laws and greater equity in a future South Africa is
critically examined. Lourens and Kotze cast an eye on the recently held white
General Election of May 1987 and suggest an alternative interpretation. Chris
Gregory explores the relationship between ideology and power politics in
Soviet foreign policy, while Hauner examines the role of the Soviet Eurasian
empire in the Indo-Persian Corridor, of particular interest in the light of the
developing confrontation in the Gulf region.
