This report provides an in-depth analysis of land conflict in the Chieftaincy of the Bashali. The second part of the report, following the description of the methodology of the Participatory Action Research (PAR), describes the contextual factors that have influenced the reproduction of land conflict between farmers and livestock herders and inter-community relations. Those include the historical development of the region, including waves of migration and the increase in pressure on available fertile land over the decades. The evolution of the land regime is also described, with traditional and modern land management systems coming into interplay. In chapter three, the report is focusing on the conflict between farmers and livestock herders and presents its current form. Finally, in chapter four, the report analyze existing peace building efforts in the area. / A quatre différents niveaux, le présent rapport de recherche sur les conflits inter-paysans liés à la gestion des terres rurales en Chefferie des Bashali, dans le Territoire de Masisi veut maintenir le lecteur dans le champ d’investigation d’ASP et lui offrir des éléments de guide. Il s’agit, en premier lieu, de découvrir la monographie de cette chefferie reconnue comme l’épicentre des conflits fonciers dans le Territoire de Masisi. C’est l’occasion de repérer les différents acteurs aux conflits, localisés dans trois différents axes de cette chefferie, à savoir Nyamitaba, Kitshanga et Mweso, mais aussi dans les villes de Goma, Kinshasa et Kigali. Ces acteurs ont activement participé à cette recherche, conformément à la logique de la méthodologie RAP qui fut pratiquée.
