Dr. Debay Tadesse has a PhD in Public Policy and Development in Africa and MA degree in African History from Howard University in Washington, DC and his BA degree in History from Georgia State University, Atlanta, GA. Awards include Sasakawa Young Leaders Fellow and he is a member of Phi Alpha Theta, Field of History, Zeta Gamma Chapter, American Historical Association and the African Studies Association.
Dr. Tadesse is a Senior Researcher for the African Conflict Prevention and Risk Analysis (CPRA) Programme at the Institute for Security Studies (ISS) in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia. Dr. Tadesse joined ISS after serving the Addis Ababa University as an Assistant Professor at the Institute of African Studies and played a significant role in the creation of the Institution within the Addis Ababa University system.
His work is aimed at understanding how environmental, economic and political change impact on the people`s of Africa and how policy reform can bring real change on the ground. While his research specialization is in the field of conflict resolution, public policy and development, his intellectual interests are considerably more diverse. He has published widely including his recent publications "South Sudan: a Challenge Ahead, "Africa`s Emerging Global Partnerships", "The Impact of Climate Change in Africa", "China-Africa Partnerships: Challenges and Opportunities" and the "Nexus between Climate Change and Conflict in Africa".
