Derek is a lecturer at University of the Western Cape and a part-time researcher for the DPRU at UCT. He completed his Masters degree in Economics (cum laude) in 2002, at Stellenbosch University.
He is a former researcher for ReSEP and worked as a full-time researcher and a part-time tutor for the Economics Department of Stellenbosch University, from 2004 to 2008. He previously worked as research assistant at the (US) Economics Department University while lecturing part-time at UWC.
Derek’s research interests include Labour Economics, Development Economics, Household Survey Analysis, and Economic Education.
