“Climate change is increasingly altering ecosystems which are the foundations of agricultural productivity worldwide. This has brought uncertainties in the use of farm inputs as well as food security. Challinor et al. (2009) noted that uncertainties in regional crop production are not only related to biophysical data, but rather to socio-economic and crop management factors which affects food security. Africa’s economy is predominantly rural based with agriculture
(farming, livestock, forestry and unconventional farming methods) accounting for about 40% of the GDP (FAO, 2008). A greater proportion of Africa’s population strives on agriculture. In Africa, agricultural productivity greatly depends on precipitation and natural conditions of the environment.”
