The Moroccan women’s movement has been a product of the recent history of society since the pre-colonial period. The framework of the debate around the development and reform of the Moudawana, which has become a part of Moroccan political life from the first years of independence to the present day, reflects, in fact, an amplified and recurrent process of the issues surrounding the status and role of women in Moroccan society that goes back a long way in history. A modern product of a long journey through Morocco’s political, economic and social history, the social status of women is the result of a maturation that reflects the political changes and the transformation of the country’s family and community structures over the long term. / Le mouvement des femmes marocaines est issu de l’histoire récente de la société depuis la période précoloniale. La trame du débat autour de l’élaboration et de la réforme de la Moudawana, qui s’est imposé dans la vie politique marocaine depuis les premières années de l’indépendance jusqu’à nos jours, traduit, en fait, un processus amplifié et récurrent des enjeux autour du statut et du rôle de la femme dans la société marocaine qui remonte loin dans l’histoire. Produit moderne d’un long cheminement de l’histoire politique, économique et sociale du Maroc, le statut social de la femme est le fruit d’une maturation qui reflète les changements politiques et la transformation des structures familiales et communautaires du pays, intervenus sur la longue durée.
