“While BIDPA continues to make progress in policy advice to both Government and private sectors, there are challenges that lie ahead in transforming the Botswana economy, particularly as Government strives to diversify the economy. The other challenge is to facilitate policy changes to diversify the economy. Botswana continues to face high unemployment rates currently estimated at 19%. Poverty levels still remain at high levels. It is for the foregoing reasons that BIDPA has identified Economic Diversification as the major area for its core research for the next 18 months.”
