“This report outlines SA’s position on negotiations on agricultural trade at the
World Trade Organization (WTO). Part 1 of this report provides some background on the negotiations on agricultural trade at the WTO. Part 2 assesses SA policy-making on agricultural trade, and identifies some of the factors that influence the positions adopted during WTO negotiations, and how they interact. Part 3 sets out S A’s positions on the three pillars of the agriculture negotiations: market access, domestic support, and export competition. Part 4 analyses the views of key SA stakeholders in agricultural trade on these positions. The views of the government and these stakeholders are brought together in a matrix in Part 5. The final section contains some recommendations on SA’s approach to the negotiations.”
