“This project was carried out to evaluate the capacity for university engineering education in three African countries, south of the Sahara – Nigeria, Ghana and Zimbabwe with a view to assessing
the extent to which the programmes prepare graduates for their prime role in industrial development. Five main issues were investigated in depth:
• government policy on engineering education
• resource capacity for engineering education (funding, student enrolment,
availability of teachers and trainers, laboratories, workshops, classrooms
and library facilities)
• course structure and content
• post qualification on-the-job performance of graduates
• females in engineering education.”
