“The purpose of this study is to explore in detail the implications of Ghana’s external indebtedness for sustained economic growth. The focus of the analysis is on debt in the 1983-1990 period during which Ghana pursued an economic recovery programme (ERP)and adopted structural adjustment policies. Where necessary, data are drawn from outside this period for comparative analysis. Specific issues addressed include: 1)examination of the main features of the debt, including the size, sources, structure and terms. 2)assessment of debt burden and courses of present debt differences 3)assessment of sustainability of the debt 4)evaluation of the impact of debt on economic growth.”
