This paper emphasize the role of community participation, which is one of the domains of governance in primary health care delivery. However, because of their cross-cutting nature, some components of other principles are embedded in the principle of community participation. These include an emphasis on the accessibility to rural
communities; health education and sanitation, included in this is : health promotion. Our objective is to determine the role of community participation in the PHC system in Delta State. In order to achieve this objective, the rest of the paper is divided into five sections. Firstly; the conceptual framework is presented, following with methods and materials that are summarized. Section three summarizes various dimensions of community participation in the PHC system in Delta State. The policy implications are examined in section four, concluding remarks are made.
