This infographic is part of a series titled : Natural Resource Governance. This edition no.4 is about the Resources of the Sea. The statistical information firstly depicts Blue Economy- the new resource frontier. The Maritime zone under Africa’s jurisdiction, freshwater and ocean fish and the food security that is provided by the ocean, imports and exports in Africa conducted by sea. The infographic then continues to depict the challenges involved in the abuse of the sea as natural resource: Maritime Crimes – Human Trafficking, Depletion of Marine Stock, illegal toxic waste dumping, Piracy in the gulf of Aden.
