“The purpose of this paper is to critically examine one subregional security structure — SADC’s Organ on Politics, Defence and Security Co-operation. Although emphasis will be placed on the institutional
structure of the Organ, the geo-strategic context in which this structure exists will also be discussed. The paper will end with some policy recommendations. In seeking to arrive at recommendations to strengthen SADC Organ, the paper will also draw lessons from other subregional groupings in the developing and developed world.”
