The first article in this document is titled: Sixty five years of planning in Nigeria without stakeholder participation. This article gives some insight into the path of Nigeria’s development planning during the time of colonial rule under Britain from 1945 to 1960 as well as the era of Democratic dispensation from 1999 onwards. The next article titled: Grassroots stakeholder participation in development planning and poverty reduction programmes mainly focus on the benefits and strengths of stakeholder involvement from CPED’s experience. The ultimate aim of applying stakeholder participation is to produce well informed management with good chances of implementation in the rural communities. The next article: Defining, identifying and analyzing grassroots stakeholders defines and characterizes the term stakeholder. Participation levels and methods of stakeholders is examined in the following article. Building the Capacity of Stakeholders for participation pays attention to the reasons for capacity building and the next article describes the methods for promoting participation. Te following article addresses the monitoring and evaluation process for participation from stakeholders and the final article describes the lessons learned from stakeholder involvement. Seven brief reports on CPED activities/ action research programmes follow with regards to HIV/Aids prevention for rural youths.
