“Cervical cancer is a prevalent yet preventable cause of death among
Kenyan women. Lack of viable vaccination, screening and treatment options, combined with a high incidence of risk are the main causal factors. Subsidized vaccination programs and low-resource screening procedures have been shown to reduce cervical cancer rates in other African
countries, and could contribute to reducing rates in Kenya. A first step toward preventing cervical cancer in Kenya is government implemented national cancer screening and surveillance programming,
and additional resources toward treatment centres across the country.”
