In this bulletin the first article looks at Africa and the independence from Europe and how this has impacted on the development of Africa. The author indicates that this process of decolonization was not always successful and Africa still clings to Europe. The main focus of South Africa in world trade is on commodity flows and aim to investigate major world trends in trade and production and the resultant adjustment issues that South Africa is likely to encounter if it wishes to remain competitive. The article by Henderson describes the effect of food as a weapon in Southern Africa and what the implications of such an embargo has on the economy and foreign policy of Southern Africa. The last article focuses on the regional conflict in Southern Africa and how this will influence the political stability of the region. The publication ends with a book review.
