“It is important to recognize that Uganda’s efforts to transform her economy, social services and politics are directly tied to the fate of our biological resources. Uganda’s stock of biological diversity including forests, wildlife, wetlands, micro-organisms, etc is the basis for sustainable agricultural productivity, tourism development and social protection, among others.. Ugandan policy makers and politicians need to be reminded consistently
of the indivisibility of economic growth and the sustainable management of biological diversity. In this article, we have opted
to use the example of the process to formulate a National Biodiversity Strategy and Action Plan (NBSAP) as an illustration
of a crisis that is slowly growing out of proportion.”
