Zambia is at a critical stage in her development as a country. The economy of Zambia is not in a healthy state and it is uncertain if she could stand the pressure building up around South Africa.This paper looks at the economic situation before independence and how well Zambia has coped with its landlocked transportation situation. Achievements after independence has seen dramatic increases and better education facilities have increased employment rates. However the economic problems for Zambia are still numerous and aid from different countries supports the development of Zambia’s economy.
