Repercussions: Zambia, Rhodesia and South West Africa

In this report the author is discussing the problems of 3 different countries, namely Zambia, Rhodesia and South West Africa. The slow deterioration of Zambia’s economy after their decision to move against Rhodesia is not at an end. Numerous problems like the miner’s strike, limited transport facilities, etc had an effect on the economy of Zambia but no significant influence on Rhodesia and its struggle for independence as Zambia has hoped. In Rhodesia no solution to the independence question has been found. Talks between Rhodesia and Britain are not very positive and the failure of the economic sanctions did not have the neccessary effect. Independence for the South African administered South West Afica is still being debated. The relationship between the United Nations and South Africa is being highlighted and furthermore the discussion continues with the reaction from South Africa and how economic sanctions can influence decision on independence.
