This policy brief explores the notion of power in the Southern African Development Community
(SADC). It examines which countries have excelled in areas prioritised in SADC’s common
agenda, which is shaped by the revised Regional Indicative Strategic Development Plan (RISDP).
Recommendations are made about how South Africa might partner with key SADC countries to
drive growth and development in the region.
